How do I register?
The easiest way to register is by registering online. Click the “Register” button on the main website page. If you don’t want to register online, you can call us at 226-377-2056 or email OxfordGiving@von.ca. If you prefer using paper pledge forms, we can mail them to you or you can pick them up at VON Sakura House or from our main VON Oxford office at 550 Ingersoll Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario.
Does it cost money to hike?
No, it is free to register and hike. Your registration includes a free t-shirt. We do ask that you try to ask your family members, friends and co-workers to sponsor you as a hiker and make a donation to you or your team. Even the smallest donations make a difference!
Can my hike team wear their own special t-shirts?
Yes, of course! Feel free to wear your own special t-shirts if that is something you would like to do. But everyone will get a special Hike for Hospice event t-shirt to wear if they wish.
How do I select my t-shirt size?
When you register, you will get the chance to fill in your t-shirt size. While we attempt to make sure everyone gets their correct size, please note that we may run out of certain sizes.
Will the Hike happen if it rains?
This event will go ahead as planned if there is only rain; but, if there is a thunderstorm, please keep an eye on our social media accounts and website for updated information and a plan of action.
How can you raise more funds for VON Sakura House?
Ask your friends and families to make a donation. Make it more personal! Update your personal and team pages with a photo and write down your personal story about why you are raising funds. Share your participation on social media and with your family and friends!
If you feel comfortable, you can approach family and friends and ask them to support your hike with a pledge form, or showing them how to donate online.
What is hospice palliative care?
Hospice palliative care provides physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical support to people living with life-threatening illness, their loved ones and the bereaved. VON Sakura House provides end-of-life care in a home-like setting.
Will you have Stash Your Cash?
Yes, we will have options to "stash your cash" prior to the event.
On the following dates and times, our staff and volunteers will be at the front desk of the VON Oxford Office at 550 Ingersoll Ave, Woodstock where you can safely drop off your pledge forms and donations, and pick up your event t-shirt. You are also welcome to bring your pledge forms and donations with you to Roth Park on the morning of the Hike – Saturday, September 16.
Wednesday, September 13, 2023 – 10:00am to 3:00pm
Thursday September 14, 2023 – 4:30pm to 6:30pm
