Why I am Raising Funds for Sakura House
I never thought my beautiful, adventurous sister and best friend would end up in a hospice. But all of a sudden this became our new reality. I had no idea what to expect, I had never been to one.
I was nervous walking in the doors to the beautiful Sakura House, but I immediately felt this place was special. Right away it felt so welcoming.
Nicole had asked to have a party with her closest friends and family and unfortunately, she had to go to Sakura house a few days before the party date. However, as soon as her nurse heard about the party being cancelled, she said she could make the party happen right at Sakura House. It meant the world to us that she was able to have one of her final wishes come true.
Sakura House became our home for the short time Nikki was there. We spent all day there and we were able to spend the night with Nicole too. Nicole was never alone. We even got to have an Easter egg hunt with Nicole’s niece and nephews. They put on an Easter dinner and let us host a girls movie night in the theatre room. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure Nikki was comfortable and that all her wishes were granted.
We will forever be grateful for the amazing care and support that the Sakura house team offered Nicole and us.
